Dr. Philip Blosser wrote these liner notes: 'Wendy's music career, like her life, was like a brilliant shooting star that illuminated the night sky for one all-too-brief moment. She first appeared on the Grand Ole Opry in December, 1975, when she was only twelve. She made guest appearances on 'Hee Haw' in 1980. Over the next few years, she made international tours with Bill Monroe, Mac Wiseman, and Perry Como. Then, in 1987, in the springtime of her life, at age 23, she died of a congenital heart disease. There's a proverb that says only the good die young. Wendy embodied that wholesome goodness that comes from being raised with traditional Southern family values. There was a beautiful innocence about her, utterly without guile or pretense. She loved life and everything that had to do with family and friends. No song on this album evokes this facet of Wendy's life more than 'Cabin High,' which still brings tears to my eyes. It isn't simply the sentimentality of the lyrics, about that 'cabin high in the Blue Ridge Mountains' where there were family, neighbors, 'laughter, love and yellow firelight.' It's also that these are the things Wendy wanted. She wanted to settle down and raise a family of her own. Yet that was never meant to be. Wendy put her heart and soul into everything she did. She wanted to deliver perfection, whether it was in how she fixed her hair, told a story, or played her banjo. I remember the first time she sat down on our living room sofa and unleashed 'Foggy Mountain Breakdown' on her banjo. She could blow you away. This collection of Wendy's music represents an outstanding cross section selected by those who cherish her legacy. I hope you enjoy it.' On this classic CD, produced by Harrison Tyner and Don Fowler, Wendy sings and plays her banjo, guitar, dobro and fiddle.
