The Thirstbusters' sophomore album "Caught Between" expresses musical, lyrical, and conceptual sensitivity far beyond their years. While something remains from their first record, that jazzy Pop/Rock magic that got them on Disney, their sound has clearly matured. Current Music Majors at notable colleges and conservatories across the country, the band incorporates instrumental solos as well as delicate arrangements for strings, horns, and a gospel choir. Even with this polished sophistication, a result of their training, ultimately the songs are catchy and relatable. The title track of "Caught Between," reflects something we all go through. For the band, it's about their personal passage through college, a time-tested transition from childhood to adulthood. But "it's also about the multifaceted essence of personality, and finding a balance within ourselves" says lead singer Zach Sorgen. "The way we feel, think, and act depends on context, as do our musical preferences." So rather than choosing just one direction for the new album, The Thirstbusters make a conscious decision to embrace the eclectic. Each song shows a different side of their experience, from philosophical self-discovery to light-hearted party anthems. This driving concept is also present on the album cover, in which each band member appears multiple times, caught between different sides of themselves. The music ranges from hard rock to funky RnB to chill acoustic. But even with this extreme diversity of genre, "Caught Between" somehow remains cohesive and unified, making The Thirstbusters sound unique yet recognizable.
