************ Terrylee Whetstone-16th time recording artist This music fits into the category of Introspective ************ 'The Dance' has Terrys most spoken word to date, concerning situations in our society today and gives thought provoking solutions to these problems with a very unique outlook as well as very meaningful music to emphasize the storytelling. The Dance A lady surfing the web, found my website and discovered that I am a Cherokee Indian. She learned that I am true to my heritage and beliefs, as well as in my flute music and art paintings. After many emails, texts, we bounced ideas off of each other and she ended up purchasing some of my artwork. In 2007, after many problems and Dr. visits, I was told that I would never walk again and had a 50/50 chance I could get use of my hands again; it was discovered that I was severely affected by a vitamin B-12 deficiency. I couldn't feed or dress myself, and couldn't walk. In my work, I was doing a newsletter and since I was unable to do that anymore, I punched out with my knuckles an email notifying people of my condition and that I would no longer be able to do the newsletter. From my newsletter, Patti Watson acquired my phone number and called me offering me her fathers power chair if I could find a way to pick it up. A friend drove me to Texas where I met Patti and her mother and we had a wonderful lunch. From all this, our relationship grew into a brother/sister type relationship. In 2011, Patti's mom called to tell me that Patti was full of cancer and so I put her on my Indian prayer list and smoked the pipe for her. Her cancer was reduced to one spot, but I was hesitant to believe it. Patti called me one night with a poem, The Dance, and she was sending me a framed parchment paper copy of her poem. When I received it, I was taken back by it's simplicity, yet it was so beautiful. In another phone call, we were discussing my next CD and what I was going to do with it. Patti decided she would like her poem on my CD, but she wanted me to read the words and put flute music to it. So I agreed and when I got it done, I called her back to let her hear it...and she just loved it so much she wanted to jump thru the phone and give me a hug. So I then decided to dedicate this CD in her honor, although she never heard the completed CD, I know she would be very happy. Again, I received another phone call from one of Patti's friends saying that Patti was in the hospital and wouldn't be here much longer and my heart just dropped, as I knew all along that she was holding a very stiff upper lip and not telling me the real truth about her cancer. Unfortunately, a week or so later, I got an email that Patti had passed on. When I did get the CD done, I sent a copy to her mom. I miss my 'sis' greatly, but I do know that she is dancing on top of the Rocky Mountains like she always wanted to do. The Dance by Patti Watson I wish you all the joys of life And time to grace your presence, I wish you peace, harmony, Love, And the knowledge of learned lessons, I wish you hope to cling to If needs be in this world, I wish you fondest memories of lives you've touched; Every boy and girl. I wish you to be happy, content, fulfilled; And with no regrets. Remain strong willed. I wish you strength to carry on, And with nothing left to change, I wish you to sing your own song; And my friend, I hope you dance. I am so honored by John Trudell in speaking up and he is my hero. He gave me the strength and courage to do this album, as it is my first spoken word album concerning injustices in our society today. I have reached a point in my life where I feel I just had to speak up. I am not saying any of these things to offend anyone, only to give each of you a different perspective concerning our world around us today. This has been the hardest CD I ever made, as I had so many things to say and rewrites that had to be done before I ever started recording. I am very proud of this CD and I hope it spurs on some changes in our world for the benefit of all of us. In making my 16th CD, with all of the challenges I endured, I decided to make another CD, "Peace2Love" the first time I have ever made back to back CD's. It is just the opposite, I purposely didn't do any speaking and wanted to be positive. Peace2Love is about a new relationship in my life, I never thought I would have again, at this age I had given up. Yet someone I knew 40 years ago came back into my life and now she is my best friend, partner, and mate. I hope you enjoy my journey, it sure has been interesting for me. I share my story to give you hope and inspiration in your life and to be able to face your happiness or difficulties. In my culture, we believe in healing ceremonies, and if it weren't for those, I wouldn't be where I am today, yes, I still have difficulties, but I am so grateful and thankful for all the blessings I have received. Many blessings to you,and wishing you enough, Wa-do' and hope you enjoy 'The Dance', TerryLee.
