Band Members: Brian James Albano -- Guitar / Vocals Michelle Montavon -- Bass / Vocals Matt Covey -- Drums the Suicide Dolls have been making a name for themselves in the vast underground of the music world. With a few tours and countless live shows under their belts, 'Prayers in Parking Lots' is the long awaited full length album from this New London, CT based power trio. The songs on this album pull from many of rock's sub-genres... garage, noise, alt, punk, psych, shoegaze and pop can all be found scattered throughout. Adam Wujtewicz from the blog WalingCity.Com had this to say about the record: 'The Suicide Dolls draw from a lot of bands that people now take for granted; The Pixies, Joy Division and Sonic Youth are the first 3 that come to mind. These bands that once saturated the hearts and minds of rockers everywhere are now going extinct. Prayers in Parking Lots will force you to remember what it was that drew you to these bands. Not because it sounds like them, but because it has the same quality you can't quite put your finger on... because it's something that can't be summed up in a 2 word genre.' The Deli Magazine - New England had this to say about the Suicide Dolls sound: 'This Connecticut-based trio draws on influences from bands like Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth and The Pixies. Now, you might think a lot of bands cite those same influences, and you're correct. However, the Suicide Dolls turn their influences into some major inspiration. With their searing lyrics and heavy hooks, this band is running full steam ahead, never stopping to look back.' Live, the band is known for their highly energetic and thoughtful sets. Iman Lababeti of the blog Rock NYC Live and Recorded had this to say about their performance at PIANOS in NYC's Lower East Side (12/28/2011) : ' is like the roar of an airplane and it is loud and relentless, almost ridiculously so for a three piece band. Mind bending, loud, more post-punk than punk, but still punk rock... The Suicide Dolls mesmerize you with sound, the songs smash into each other and the mood is intense sensory overload...' 'Prayers in Parking Lots' was recorded at Q Division Studios in Somerville, MA, (from March 27-April 1 2011), where artists like Mission of Burma, Pixies, Aimee Mann, Dropkick Murphys and Morphine have all made albums. It was engineered and co-produced by Justin Pizzoferrato, who has worked with Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, The Hold Steady, and engineered both J Mascis and Thurston Moore's recent solo albums. It was mastered by Mike Quinn at Moontower Studios in Somerville, MA. in June/July 2011, with an official release date of January 31st, 2012. Fun Facts: -- The bass rig used on 'Prayers in Parking Lots' was also used on Dinosaur JR's album, 'Farm'. -- The samples used throughout the album are actually 'number stations' or 'spy stations', that are mysteriously broadcast over shortwave radio stations all over the world.
