Produkt-Hinweise
The statewide Arkansas Democrat-Gazette calls The Smittle Band 'jazzy Americana....a smooth, swinging Dan Hicks for NPR listeners.' Led by songwriter and operatically-trained vocalist Stephanie Smittle, the group's first CD, 'Bright Street,' came in 2010, and it's followup, 'Tales From Tattletown,' in late 2012, with Cate Brothers veteran John Davies producing. TV and radio appearances on the likes of KUAR's 'Live at Laman' series, AETN's 'Front Row' series, and Oxford, Miss.'s syndicated 'Thacker Mountain Radio' have solidified the dedicated fanbase of the group's 'truly unusual music' (Nightflying). The lovely Smittle recently studied in Italy as an Oberlin Conservatory scholar, but her powerful, 'room-filling' (Arkansas Democrat-Gazette) voice can be surprisingly delicate. With Smittle being equally at home belting out an aria in any of the Romance languages or a pop tune in Russian -- or a metal or a rock song, for that matter -- the band truly brings wide-ranging influences and an international flair to the stage. The Smittle Band is: Stephanie Smittle on vocals, Wythe Walker on guitar, Ray Wittenberg on drums and Bill McCumber on bass.
