It's Old Truck Revival. You don't just tap your foot, your whole body taps. It's lively, it's fun, and it wakes up every one of your sleeping bluegrass cells and invites your body, heart, and soul to join the party. OTR plays bluegrass that takes that old generations-past style and bridges the gap to generation-now. Younger and younger crowds fill the chairs at their shows, but not for long. Their goal is to get you out of your chair, on your feet, hands in the air, and joining the beat that makes Old Truck Revival a new grass trend. They like to keep their fans on their feet both figuratively and literally, by moving right on to the next song, changing the instruments, shifting the gears into new tempos and rhythms and constantly surprising their audience with an organic feel that tells fans they are a part of their music. Old Truck Revival features musician-songwriters John Robert Bowyer and Junk Box Mike, each providing vocal, multi-instrumental, and personal contribution to the unique original bluegrass and new grass character of the band. Each one brings so much passion to the stage that people are truly pulled in. At the end of their show, you feel like the stage was full of people. When you dig down, you feel the bluegrass, the folk, the rock, and the soul of bluegrass coming alive in this century with a new spring in it's step. John Robert Bowyer has left his mark on several bands that he visited until he called OTR home, and some he still shares his talent with every now and again. Over the last 20 years that he has been perfoming, he's played with the original Cousin Brothers, Strawboss Union, Lonesome Sharks in their Civil War reenactments, and punk band, The Ottoman Society. Junk Box Mike brings another 15 years experience to the duo, plus his own style and legacy from the original JUNK BOX Rock Band and cut his recording teeth on his solo recording of From My Recliner. Together they are a power-house duo! In central Indiana, OTR has shook the stage at such venues as The Melody Inn, Broadripple's famous Corner Wine Bar, Birdy's, Red Lion Grog House, the Palladium in Carmel and many more too numerous to count. They've also done a set or two at area festivals including Indy Hostel Folk Festival and Metamora Old Time Music Festival. Not a week passes that they aren't jiggling the nails loose on some stage, somewhere in the greater Indianapolis area. One of their more memorable moments was having the creation of OTR captured in Nuvo's Barfly comic strip by Wayne Bertsch. "It's a testament to the fun experience we bring to folks that we inevitably ended up immortalized in a comic strip." The release of their first CD, Oweda, features seven original songs, released in early 2012 and was received like everything else they do, with enthusiastic applause. OTR's response to their fan's request for MORE was "YES!" They are beginning work on compositions for their second CD. Until then, they can't wait to see you somewhere in Indianapolis soon. If you need your OTR 'fix' before then, find them on City360 on the net, or on Redbud Radio along with others like them, wearing their fingers out picking grass.
