'Marching Through Georgia,' is a collection of traditional music arranged and performed by award winning multi-instrumentalist L.J. Slavin. Instrumentation includes guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, autoharp, flute, harmonica, pennywhistle, jew's harp, bones and musical saw! Selections include rollicking stringband tunes to heartfelt ballads, Celtic to Americana. L.J. recently musical directed and performed in the world premiere Steppenwolf Theatre production of 'The March,' based on the E.L. Doctorow novel about the Civil War and Sherman's March. This recording was inspired by that production. It includes fully realized arrangements of music used in the show as well as other selections of traditional music. Other notable theatrical productions that L.J. has performed music in include the Tony Award winning 'Grapes of Wrath,' 'Woody Guthrie's American Song,' and 'Appalachian Strings' among many others. Aside from professional theatre, L.J. has performed in just about every type of venue imaginable throughout the United States and in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and the Shetland Islands. His amazing saw playing, in addition to his many other instruments, has been featured on many commercial jingles.
